Why Carriage House?
With so many places to buy jewelry, why choose a Carriage House piece? Each piece is crafted by hand by me (Hi, I'm Emma). From design conception to the final product, I put time and love into every piece I make to ensure that it's a well-made, high quality, and unique piece that you can wear every day (and even pass down to the next generation).
Hi, I'm Emma! I'm the designer, maker, photographer, website-runner, etc. I spent my high school years making jewelry, predominantly beading and wirework. I pressed pause on my passion to attend college and spent the past ten years in a corporate office job. A recent move to a renovated old carriage house inspired me not only to resume my passion, but to begin learning more techniques like soldering and lost wax casting. These techniques allow me to implement a variety of stones into my work and capture the beautiful details found in nature. With lost wax casting I can take an interesting twig found in my courtyard and turn it into a unique pair of earrings, or a tooth found in the woods can be transformed into a pendant on a delicate chain. I found a jewelry school in California that offered a wide variety of classes through Zoom and I've been hooked on it ever since. *If you're interested in learning how to make jewelry I cannot recommend Silvera Jewelry School enough. I've taken classes with most of their instructors and they are the absolute best (you'd be surprised how well they're able to teach metalsmithing over Zoom).
My art is often inspired by the beautiful forms and color found in nature, from the budding fruit in the orchard next door to the intricate lines and detail of a fern, or the quirky personalities of the many animals around. I source many of my stones from family lapidaries which allows me to support other small businesses and provide each piece with unique hand-cut stones. I create jewelry that is both playful and feminine, and hopefully brings a smile to your face when you wear it!
Curious About the Jewelry Process?
I've created some videos that capture the production process for different pieces. Check them out below (and find me on Instagram to see what I'm working on currently).
